infinitive wunder, in einer infinitiven welt

ok, my sister told me not to….

… prolong writing my articles in english. She told me she is almost able to understand everything, but it is hard for her. So I thought about keeping a better contact with you folks in the world. So I would like you to decide how to keep on. Either write in english or in germany. Please leave a comment on this page. I will do then so. :D

But now, after the first time, I wrote this article, the program didn’t want to save it, I have to write it again. Well, what happend this weeks? Beginning of this month I took part in a sculpture-seminar, organised by the “Focus Europa”. This is an organisation of artists, which want to support a better understanding of different cultures. The fun part about this was, that we all came from different professions and levels. But at the end we did a quite good job and had been able to present a lot of pices of fine art. ;-)

After that I started to apply for different jobs. I is fascinating, how many things an engineer could do these days in Germany. So I have to decide, what is an interesting and motivating product. After doing so, I good already some invitations. So I have to keep on the good work. On the other hand there is even a chance to prolong my studies in Iceland. Mid this month I got the chance to speak with a Docotor at the Háskóli Íslands who would like to support my project (either M.Eng or PhD). He has very interesting and forcing ideas about it and how to organise the studies. So keep the fingers crossed, I have to see how is the outcome of my application at the science office at HÍ and for the scholarship.

My thesis is also going well. Thanks to my dear friends at the Licht-Punkt, I have been able to find room and time to make my thesis better. Right now I worked also on chapter 5, but I have to wait for further information. Today I would like to work on chapter 6 and structurise my ideas about possible solutions for the problem, I am working on. So it still keep me bussy. ;-)
Last Friday I also had the chance to take part in the business dinner of the Campus of Excellence in Hof. In 2005 I took part in the Summerschool of the Campus of Excellence, which was a very interesting and challenging experience. Looking back, I think the big advantage have been the contacts I made. There are still some contacts, which might offer me futur job opportunities. University keeps me bussy too. I am doing stuff for the hof alumni and for tha alumni organisation of the Campus of Excellence. So still a lot of things to do.

I hope to keep you posted soon. Sjáumst! Harald

I have to admit…

I am not very good at it. I might have told you that I have to finish my last exam. Well, so I did and of course I passed it. Not as good, as desired, but quite well. So after almost four years of studies and around 43 (!) passed exams, I just have to finish my thesis! :-) Just…… well that sounds easy, but hell I can tell you. It is sometimes hard to motivate yourself doing this. I planned on handing it in end of November this year and I will! But now I just have to change on chapter, my supervisor and my professor mentioned me to do so.

But it is hard to change something you wrote on for weeks. And now almost everything for the trashcontainer? Maybe I have to delet this chapter and start up new. …. No, I gonna change it! I think I have done a good job and now I have solid ground to work with. I just should motivate myself to do so.

working place

As you might see in the picture, my place is filled with papers, notes and books. Yeah, it is going a bit messy… Like it is in my mind…. Some structure, lots of ideas, but nothing to put it into order. :-|
Maybe it is full moon. So don’t loose the faith, I gonna make it. Have fun and keep the fingers crossed! ;-) Sjáumst!

what is the meaning of this?

Well I have to say that I quite often watch television. Somehow when live is boring or I want to get information, I have to watch it. But somehow since I came back from Iceland, almost everytime and everywhere I see Iceland in German TV. I zap throug the channels and find something about Iceland. Not only documentaries for holiday, also about hermit in the westfjords or thriller or reports about the land, culture, cuisine or media.

What what does this mean? Well I am going to apply for a masters programm at HÍ and maybe for a job in RVK. But still. Even friends want to work in Iceland or make an internship there. Is it somehow a prevision for me beeing in Iceland or just showing me, what I miss, somehow. It think I have to meditate about this. Hopefully there is a clue… soon. :|

On the other hand, I was on a fair for new jobs, called akademika. I was there in order to get information, which kind of job I can follow, as soon as I finish my thesis and get my diploma. What can I tell you? Well I seems, that I might have one job on every finder… Amazing!

So I hope I find my way soon. I keep you informed…. Sjáumst! ;-)

takk fyrir ísland! tusend takk!

Well, I am so happy right now. I have to tell you, it seems that I have beautifull pictures of Iceland. Well I already knew that I have a lot of them and some fellows told me that they also might be good. But now I have a proof! ;-)

I won the photocompetition “itchy feet - Fernweh” at my university. And by the way it was the first price. Well I have to say that it is quite easy to make great pictures in a great pure icelandic nature. Now I think you are keen on seeing the pictures. Well first you may have a look on the homepage of my university http://www.fh-hof.de/Fotowettbewerb_Fernweh.3332.0.html or just have a look for the following pictures (well, just mine).

Ok so have fun…. Sjáumst! ;-)
